Crowned Heads Wabash Cannonball

Crowned Heads has announced the return of the Wabash Cannonball. Originally released in 2020 as a single-store exclusive to Casa de Montecristo (CDM) in Nashville, Tennessee, it is now returning with a new blend and will be a nationwide CDM release.

The name Wabash Cannonball refers to a steel rollercoaster that was part of the defunct Opryland USA theme park from 1975 to 1997. The ride itself was named after an American folk song called “The Wabash Cannonball,” which is about a mythical steam locomotive. After the park closed in 1997, the ride was disassembled and finally scrapped in 2003. While Nashville is one of the fastest-growing cities in the U.S., the cigar pays homage to “Old Nashville.”

“I enjoyed working on the original ‘Wabash’ four years ago, as I was able to go back in time to a simpler Nashville,” commented Crowned Heads co-founder Jon Huber. “When I heard that Casa de Montecristo wanted to bring back ‘Wabash,’ I was elated and set out to build a ‘bigger-better-bolder’ version of the original release.”

The Wabash Cannonball 2024 features a Mexican San Andres Maduro wrapper. The blend also incorporates an Ecuadorian Sumatra binder and fillers from Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic. The original Wabash Cannonball 2020 was produced at Tabacalera La Alianza in the Dominican Republic, while the 2024 version comes from Eradio Pichardo’s TacaNisa factory in Nicaragua.

The Wabash Cannonball 2024 also comes in a new size – a 5 7/8 x 52 vitola presented in 12-count boxes. Production is capped at 15,000 cigars and priced at $13.90 per cigar.

CEO Casa de Montecristo Sherri Sieminski added, “We are thrilled to partner with Crowned Heads on the latest addition to our Casa de Montecristo portfolio of exclusive cigars. The original Wabash Cannonball was so special to us, and we are excited that all our valued guests will have the chance to experience this version of such an amazing cigar.”
