An Advent calendar counts down the days until Christmas. This tradition is believed to have originated with the German Lutherans. The calendar features moveable parts, such as flaps, doors, or pockets, that reveal a daily surprise. In 2021, Smoke Inn released its first Advent Calendar, where the “surprise” is a different cigar daily. For the first time since 2021, Smoke Inn has redesigned the package.
Today’s reveal is the New World Dorado Robusto from AJ Fernandez Cigars. In 2014, AJ Fernandez Cigar Company launched what would become the company’s most successful brand, New World. The original intent of the brand was to pay homage to the age of exploration, particularly when Europeans observed natives smoking tobacco. “Dorado” means “gold” in Spanish. While the explorers found gold in the New World, in this case, Dorado refers to Fernandez’s Dorado farm in Estelí, Nicaragua. He named the farm Dorado because of the golden tint of the soil and the slightly golden hue of the tobacco leaves. The tobacco from this farm makes up the lion’s share of this blend.
