Oettinger Davidoff 150th Anniversary

In 2025, Oettinger Davidoff AG will celebrate its 150th anniversary, and the company has announced various plans to commemorate the occasion. The 150-year milestone honors the opening of Max Oettinger’s first tobacco store at Eisengasse 9 in Basel, Switzerland, in 1875. In 1970, Max Oettinger Company, led by the late Dr. Ernest Schneider, acquired the Davidoff brand along with a store in Geneva, Switzerland. This acquisition laid the foundation for Oettinger Davidoff AG to grow into a global powerhouse. Today, there are 60 flagship stores branded “Davidoff of Geneva since 1911,” owned by Oettinger Davidoff AG. Additionally, products are distributed to over 700 appointed merchants across more than 130 countries.

The 150th celebration will include three days of an open house at the company’s headquarters in Basel, Switzerland. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore the facility and learn about the company’s history. The dates for this event have not been announced yet. In addition, retail stores in Switzerland will have a special, limited-edition commemorative cigar to mark the 150th anniversary milestone.

Coinciding with the anniversary year, the company also has plans to open Davidoff Flagship stores at Global Travel Retail locations. This includes airports in Madrid (Spain), Lima (Peru), and Jeddah (Saudi Arabia). Major renovations are currently underway for flagship stores at Madison Avenue (New York) and Monaco.

In February 2025, Davidoff had a grand opening for its expanded production facilities in the Dominican Republic. In the Fall, Davidoff has plans to open new fermentation and storage halls at its Danlí, Honduras facility.
