Today, we are reviewing the Davidoff Escurio 10th Anniversary Limited Edition 2025. The Escurio was the second installment in Davidoff’s Black Label series, following the popularity of the Davidoff Nicaragua cigar. When the Davidoff Nicaragua was created, CEO Hans-Kristian Hoejsgaard challenged master blender Henke Kelner to develop an all-Nicaraguan cigar. For Escurio, the goal was to create a Davidoff blend that features Brazilian tobacco. Although Escurio is not entirely made of Brazilian tobacco, it has a strong Brazilian influence. Davidoff unveiled the Escurio in 2015, and with 2025 marking its tenth anniversary, the Escurio 10th Anniversary Limited Edition celebrates this milestone.
The name Escurio is a derivative of two words – Escuro (which is Portuguese for dark – and in this case, the cigar’s wrapper falls into this category) and Rio (short for the Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro – which was an inspiration for this cigar).
It is also worth noting that in 2013, Davidoff commemorated ten years of Davidoff Nicaragua with the Davidoff Nicaragua 10th Anniversary Limited Edition. The other installment in the David Black Series, Yamasá, will celebrate its tenth anniversary next year (2026), so one could infer that we would see a commemorative release to mark that milestone.
Without further ado, let’s break down the Escurio 10th Anniversary Limited Edition cigar and see what it brings to the table.

SPECIFICATIONS
Blend and Origin
The Escurio 10th Anniversary Limited Edition 2025 features an Ecuadorian wrapper, a Brazilian binder, and a combination of Dominican and Brazilian tobaccos. There are some similarities to the original Davidoff Escurio blend. A couple of differences are: 1) The Brazilian and Dominican tobaccos have a combined 45 years of age. 2) One of the Dominican fillers has been barrel-aged in bourbon casks. Production comes from Davidoff’s TABADOM facility in the Dominican Republic.
- Wrapper: Ecuadorian

The Escurio 10th Anniversary Limited Edition 2025 comes in one size – a 6 x 56 Gran Toro. The cigars come in 12-count boxes. Production numbers are 15,700 boxes globally.
Appearance (*)
The Ecuadorian Habano wrapper of the Escurio 10th Anniversary had a medium-roast coffee bean color to it. On the surface of the wrapper, there wasn’t much in the way of oils. The surface of the wrapper had some visible veins. There were also some visible seams on the wrappers.
PERFORMANCE
Pre-Light Draw (*)
Before lighting up the Escurio 10th Anniversary Limited Edition, a straight cut was used to remove the cap of the cigar. Once the cap was detached, it was time to commence with the pre-light draw ritual. The cold draw delivered notes of oak with a slight wine-like sweetness. There were also some classic Davidoff-esque mushroom notes present. Overall, I would consider this a satisfactory pre-light draw experience. At this point, it was time to toast up the footer of the Escurio 10th Anniversary Limited Edition and head into the smoking phase.
Tasting Notes
The Escurio 10th Anniversary Limited Edition picked up right where the pre-light draw took off. There were more notes of oak, mushroom, and wine sweetness. As the cigar progressed through the early part of the first third, dominant notes emerged. About midway through the first third, the oak notes became primary. Meanwhile, the sweetness of the mushroom and wine notes settled in the background. In addition, notes of white pepper and natural tobacco emerged in the background. As for the retro-hale, there were some more oak notes with some cedar layered in.
As the Escurio 10th Anniversary moved through the second third, there was an increase in the natural tobacco notes. Around the midway point, the natural tobacco notes took over as the primary note, pushing the oak notes into a secondary role. In the more distant background were the pepper, mushroom, and wine sweetness.
Toward the latter part of the second third, the natural tobacco notes started to take on a slightly bitter quality. The bitterness wasn’t harsh, but it did increase as the cigar went into the final third. The best way to describe this is that the bitterness of the natural tobacco was balanced in the latter part of the second third, and less balanced in the final third. The latter part of the second third saw a slight increase in pepper, but it leveled off and remained in the background for the final third. The final third saw the oak, pepper, wine sweetness, and mushroom notes as secondary notes. As the Escurio 10th Anniversary came to a close, it finished with a cool, but soft nub.
Burn
The Escurio 10th Anniversary required several touchups to maintain its straight burn path and straight burn line. While the touchups did the trick, I found this cigar required more frequent touchups than I prefer. The ash produced on this cigar had a salt and pepper color scheme. This was also an ash that was skewed toward the looser side. Meanwhile, the burn rate and burn temperature both maintained ideal levels.

Draw
The Escurio 10th Anniversary had what I term an open draw. It wasn’t a loose draw, nor did it produce any combustion problems. Most of the time, I prefer a little resistance on the draw, but this wasn’t the case with the Escurio 10th Anniversary. Other than being more open than I prefer, there really weren’t any adverse effects from it.
Strength and Body
Overall, the Escurio 10th Anniversary delivered a medium strength, medium-bodied smoking experience from start to finish. There was a nominal increase in the intensity of both attributes, but ultimately, the Escurio 10th Anniversary remained in the medium range for both strength and body.
As for strength versus body, both attributes balanced each other nicely, with neither attribute overpowering the other.
BANDING AND PACKAGING NOTES (*)
The banding scheme of the Escurio 10th Anniversary keeps with the black and silver Davidoff black band that the regular production Davidoff Escurio line has. The secondary band, which is black, is unique to the 10th Anniversary. It’s black, green, and silver and denotes the 10th anniversary.

The box is also not too complex. It’s a green and black slide-top box presentation.

OVERALL ASSESSMENT
Final Thoughts
While the tobacco components look similar on paper, the Escurio Limited Edition 10th Anniversary is quite a different cigar from the regular production Escurio line. I can definitely attribute this to the extended aging, the barrel-aged component, and the 6 x 58 size. Overall, it produces a solid smoke, making an 88-point score. Cigar Coop numerical scores do not have price factors into them. However, the value rating is a different story. Coming in at $37.00, while it’s not the most expensive Davidoff, the 88 points (which matched up well with my experience) were not enough to warrant a splurge rating. With a competitive amount of cigars to splurge on in the market, this one fell a little short.
