General Cigar Company once again was the leader in new product launches among companies at the 2014 IPCPR Trade Show. For the second year in a row, it was the Foundry brand that led the way with the most new product releases – racking in 16 new facings and 11 new blends. This year the centerpiece release from Foundry’s Michael Giannini and his team was the Foundry Worm Hole line. This line pays tribute to the concept of the “Worm Hole” – which centers around time travel. A Worm Hole is a tunnel that connects separate points in time and the Foundry Worm Hole line pays tribute to the past, present, and future.
The inspiration for Worm Hole starts at the year 1964, moves to present day 2014, and finally 50 years in the future to 2064. The Worm Hole series has a blend for 50 years past (1964 Blend), Current State (2014 Blend), and 50 years into the future (2064 Blend).
Consistent with most of the Foundry portfolio, the details of the tobaccos have not been disclosed, but these are said to include rare tobaccos that have not been used before. Each of the three blends feature a unique keepsake (non-paper) cigar band. All of the facings of the Foundry Worm Hole series will be packaged in 24 count boxes. Each blend is being released in a 5 1/2 x 50 Robusto and a 6 x 52 Toro.
Foundry 1964 Blend (Expect, The Unexpected)
This blend starts the journey through time back in 1964 with a homage to the World’s Fair in New York. At a World’s Fair predictions for the future are showcased. The box features a retro styled cartoon that looks back at “exploring the possibilities” into the future.

This represents the future. The names and the boxes represent spaceships. The idea with these blends is that this is meant to create a vision of what it would be like if in the future tobacco would be grown on Mars. The spaceships are what we be used to get to Mars.
