At the 2012 IPCPR Trade Show in Orlando, Florida; General Cigar Company launched Don Sixto by Plasencia. The Don Sixto marks the first collaboration between General Cigar Company and Plasencia Group. Under the joint-venture the cigar will be manufactured at Plasencia’s factory, but marketed and distributed by General Cigar Company.
In a press release by General Cigar Company, Plasencia Group president Nestor Plasencia said: “We’re excited to release our first cigar in partnership with General Cigar. We are looking forward to tapping into their marketing expertise and the strength of their dedicated sales team to bring the Don Sixto to cigar lovers across the U.S.”
The name Don Sixto comes from Sixto Plasencia, who established the Plasencia family’s presence in Cuba. Sixto was a pioneer by becoming one of the first to cultivate tobacco in Honduras and Nicaragua.
The cigar is expected to be shipped to retailers in October, 2012.
