Asylum Cigars is planning on launching a new 7 x 70 cigar called the Asylum Ogre. The Ogre will not only be a large ring gauge cigar, but it will be a barberpole. The unique thing about this particular barberpole is that it will consist of a combination of candela and maduro wrappers. This information has appeared on the Asylum Cigars’ Facebook page. A photo of the Ogre has also been posted to Twitter.
The Ogre will mark the fourth blend in the Asylum Cigars line joining the Asylum, Asylum 13, and Schizo lines. The Asylum 13 line already consists of a 7 x 70 cigars.
Asylum Cigars launched earlier this year. The company was founded by Kevin Baxter and Tom Lazuka. The duo is partnering with Christian Eiroa’s Tabacalera Unidas who is handling distribution for the cigar line.
An interesting trend seems to be surfacing with a return of barberpole cigars. At the 2012 IPCPR, 7-20-4 Cigars launched the 7-20-4 Hustler which will feature a barbepole. Viaje Cigars has been rumored to be launching a barberpole called the Candy Cane.
Blend composition and whether or not any other vitolas will be offered in the Ogre have not been made available at this time. Lazuka said on Facebook the timetable is end of November, beginning of December for release.
