Cigar Week Wrap: Volume 2, Number 5 (2/16/13)

The Cigar Week Wrap is a one stop place to catch up on the activity here at Cigar Coop. It is a combination of our news reports, cigar reviews, and assessment updates we do throughout the week. We will throw in a few bonus items from time to time as well. Our intent is to publish once a week on Saturday mornings. Note: We have decided to label our posts as “Volume 2” to be consistent with the monthly “Editor’s Corner”.

Editorial Comment

This past week we made a decision to not continue with the “Gift Guide” page in our homepage header. We have not maintained the gift guide since 2010 and have abandoned plans to continue this feature to focus on other ares. This page has been replaced with a log of our “Editor’s Corner” column. The purpose of this column is to carry out things considered to be more editorial like. We still have the original gift guide available as a published article.

Alec Bradley: Announced a petit corona size to the Alec Bradley Black Market called “Punk”.
Crowned Heads: Cigar Aficionado had first information on the company’s third line called J.D. Howard Reserve.
Davidoff: Announced a line extension to the Puro d’Oro line called Gorditos. This new vitola will be a 3 3/4 x 58 vitola. In addition to being available in packs of 4 and boxes of 25, the cigar will also be part of a special four pack called Short Pleasures.
Ezra Zion Cigars: RobbyRasReviews has a first peek at the new band for Jamais Vu – the rebranded Ezra Zion Inception. We got the press release here announcing the rebranding.
General Cigar: Has relaunched a new version of their Cigar World website.
IPCPR: The proposed consumer day for the 2013 IPCPR Trade Show has been “tabled”.
La Aurora Cigars: Chesapeake Cigar Company in Edgewater, Maryland will be getting a retail-exclusive vitola of the La Aurora 107.
La Flor Dominicana: Issued a press release announcing an event only cigar called the La Flor Dominicana Mystery Cigar.
La Palina Cigars: Issued a press release announcing a 10% price decrease of the La Palina El Diario and La Palina Maduro lines.
Martin Family of Cigars: Announced the sizes of the new upcoming Casa Martin line.
Rocky Patel Premium Cigars: Max Bichler, who works as a sales representative for the company is competing in CBS’ Amazing Race beginning February 17th. Our good friends at A Cigar Smoker’s Journal did a great interview with him.
Room 101 Cigars: Pre release cigars of the Room 101 Big Delicious were made available at a VIP Dinner on the eve of Smoke Inn’s Great Smoke event.
Royal Gold Cigars: Will be a new premium cigar division under Swisher International. We talk a little about the launch and the division’s new president Alex Goldman.
