Viaje Cigars is releasing a new batch of their Honey and Hand Grenades line. Earlier today, Viaje Cigars posted a picture on their Facebook account of packaging for the Viaje Honey and Hand Grenades. The picture also appeared on Viaje president Andre Farkas’ personal facebook account. When Farkas was asked in the comments when these would released, the response was “The bees fly on Monday” (most likely meaning a 3/4/13 ship date).
Farkas also mentioned on his personal facebook account that he was “Digging the new packaging“. The packaging still appeared to resemble the original Viaje Honey and Hand Grenades 2012 release, but look shorter in width.
As always, Farkas throws a little mystery around the release. According to comments by Viaje cigars there has been no change to the blend for this 2013 batch. The photo only showed packaging for one vitola called “The Shiv”. The 2012 Honey and Hand Grenades was a Nicaraguan puro featuring a Nicaraguan Criollo 98 wrapper. It was made available in three vitolas: Rapier (6 1/2 x 44), Shank (5 1/4 x 52), and Shiv (6 1/4 x 50).
The Viaje Honey and Hand Grenades made its debut at the 2012 IPCPR Trade Show. It shortly was released after the show. The vitolas featured a rounded cap and a torpedo tip. The cigars had a red foil that covers from the torpedo tip of the cigar and goes all the way under the band.

On the same day, Viaje announced the Viaje White Label Project (WLP) Candela 2013 would also be shipping with the Viaje Honey and Hand Grenades 2013 batch.
Blend Profile
As with most Viaje Cigars, the Viaje Honey and Hand Grenades is a Nicaraguan puro. In my conversation with Farkas he also mentioned that like many Viaje cigars, this blend uses Aganorsa leaf. As mentioned above, Viaje has said there has been no changes to the blend.
