Viaje Cigars will be releasing a new blend in its Viaje Super Shot line. This cigar will be similar to the Viaje Zombie blend and will be called Viaje Zombie Super Shot. Initial details of this release was first reported by a 4/18/13 article on Cigar Aficionado.com.
The original Viaje Zombie was released in 2011 with a follow-up release in 2012. The Zombie was only released to a small amount of stores and for select events. The original Zombie was a double-capped Nicaraguan puro that was in a robusto-sized vitola. It was not a regular small batch release that was made available to Viaje authorized retailers. The Zombie Super Shot joins the Super Shot Criollo (two releases – one in 2011 and another in 2012) and Super Shot Corojo.
According to the article, the cigar will be based off the Zombie blend and have a Nicaraguan Criollo ’98 wrapper. It will be made in a single vitola – a 3 1/2 x 54 vitola. This is the same size as the Super Shot 10 Gauge.
The packaging will be in a box similar to the cardboard shotgun shell-like box that the Super Shot Criollo and Super Shot Corojo were packaged in. There will also be a Zombie character on the box. Like the rest of the Super Shot series, the Zombie Super Shot will have 25 cigars per box.
The article mentions the initial Zombie Super Shot is scheduled for a May, 2013 release.
