Back in August we noted an interview that La Flor Dominicana president Litto Gomez did with Emerson Cigars’ on some new projects in the works. One of those projects is the latest installment of the Litto Gomez Diez Small Batch series – the Litto Gomez Small Batch No. 5. Last week Cigar Aficionado had additional details on the release – which is targeted for a December, 2013 release.
The Litto Gomez Diez Small Batch series was first introduced by La Flor Dominicana back in 2006. This was a limited release Dominican puro that used the concept of taking the best tobaccos from Litto Gomez’s La Canela farm from a single crop year. For the Small Batch No. 5, the tobacco is from a 2007 vintage. La Flor has described this tobacco as their “cream of the crop”.
While this release of the Small Batch is dubbed No. 5, it is actually the sixth release of this series. For Small Batch No. 4, there was a Small Batch No. 4 and a Small Batch No. 4 Oscuro.
At a glance, here is a look at the details of he Litto Gomez Diez Small Batch No. 5:
Consistent with the rest of the Litto Gomez Diez Small Batch series, the Small Batch No. 5 is an all-Dominican puro. As Gomez mentioned in the August Emerson’s interview, the tobaccos come from corojo, sumatra, and pelo d’oro seeds grown on Gomez’s La Canela farm.
Details on the size and production numbers were reported in the Cigar Aficionado report. The Small Batch No. 5 is available in a single vitola – a 6 3/4 x 52 Toro size (all the Small Batch series vitolas have had a 52 ring gauge). There will be 105 cigars per crate and a total of 25,000 cigars produced. The SRP will be at $19.00.
