262 Cigars has officially announced the upcoming release of the 262 Allegiance. This is a project that had been referred to for several months as the “Seasonal Blend”. The company posted a press announcement on its web-site and made the announcement of the name to social media outlets.
According to an announcement by 262, this is a blend that is geared toward the pallet of most cigar enthusiasts. The cigar is described as a mild to medium cigar.
Prior to the announcement the company had been running a “guess the name” of the cigar contest, and as a teaser put out the motto “line in the sand”. The company says “While all of their previous brands have been named in support of their overall cigar revolution theme, Allegiance is meant to take on a stronger tone. State by state, town by town, and at the Federal level too, we are seeing a growing opposition to our cigar culture. Attacks are being made on all sides; industry, tradition, and art. Their intentions are clear, the line has been drawn, and it’s time to declare a side. Inaction does not excuse you from siding with the enemy. So, where does your allegiance lie?”
While no production numbers were release, company president Clint Aaron told the Blowin Smoke Podcast on 12/28/13 to expect 750 boxes of each size produced. The company is now taking pre-orders and is expected to ship in April
