At the 2015 IPCPR Trade Show, Gurkha Cigar Group will launch the Gurkha Cellar Reserve Platinum Edition. Platinum Edition will be the fourth installment of its Gurkha Cellar Reserve Series that was initially launched in 2011. While the cigar will incorporate 12 year old tobaccos in the filler, perhaps the most significant point is that this blend will be the first of the Cellar Reserve cigars to incorporate Nicaraguan tobacco.
“When developing the new Cellar Reserve Platinum, our idea as a company was to provide a rich and complex smoking experience for the consumer,” said Juan Lopez, National Sales Director and in-house blender at Gurkha Cigar Group in a press release. “Due to the enormous success we’ve had with the Cellar Reserve lines made in the Dominican Republic, we felt that it only makes sense to expand the flavor profile by adding aged Nicaraguan tobaccos.”
Gurkha launched the Cellar Reserve line back in 2011 The first Gurkha Cellar Reserve features a Criollo 98 wrapper and incorporated 15 year old filler tobacco. Two years later, a maduro counterpart, the Gurkha Cellar Reserve Limitada was introduced. The Cellar Reserve Limitada featured a Brazilian Arapirca wrapper over what was described as 15 year filler. Last year, the Gurkha Cellar Reserve Edition Especial was introduced – incorporating a Corojo wrappers over 18 year old Dominican tobaccos.
The Cellar Reserve Platinum joins the Gurkha Heritage and Gurkha Cask Blend as announced cigars by Gurkha being showcased at the 2015 IPCPR Trade Show.
