Review: Las Cumbres Tabaco Senorial Maduro Natural Robusto Digno by Jose Blanco
Brand Appearances on Countdown: 2 (2014, 2015)
Coming in at #13 is the Las Cumbres Tabaco Senorial Maduro Natural Robusto Digno by Jose Blanco. This is a new blend launched at the 2015 IPCPR Trade Show and adds a maduro blend into the Las Cumbres Tabaco portfolio. This becomes the second cigar by Las Cumbres Tabaco to make this year’s Countdown.
For his maduro blend, Blanco opted to use a San Andres Maduro wrapper over a Dominican Piloto Cubano binder and a combination of Dominican Piloto Cubano and Dominican Crillo ’98. The cigar is called a “Maduro Natural” because of the wrapper’s natural “rustic” look. The Senorial Maduro Natural becomes the second San Andres Maduro wrapper to land on this year’s Countdown.
The Senorial Maduro Natural Robusto Digno to deliver notes of chocolate, earth, mixed fruit, cedar, and pepper. I found this to be one of the stronger cigars that Blanco has blended as this was a full strength, full-bodied cigar. I found each of the four vitolas of the Senorial Maduro Natural top be excellent. I gave a slight edge to this cigar in the 5 1/2 x 50 Robusto format.
Many times the San Andres Mexican maduro wrapper can over-power a blend. With the Senorial Maduro Natural, this is not the case. There are plenty of flavor nuances that shine with this blend. While it’s a stronger and bolder cigar, it still won’t assault your palate. Overall, an excellent cigar experience.
