“To sum it up, the La Galera Anemoi Eurus is a home run for Jochy Blanco. It’s a cigar that delivers bold flavors from start to finish. Most importantly these flavors were outstanding. Add some excellent construction into the occasion and this Anemoi Eurus scores extremely well.”

Review: La Galera Anemoi Eurus by IndianHead Cigars (2/17/20)
Appearances on Countdown (By Year/Brand): 1 (2020)

Coming in at #8 is the La Galera Anemoi Eurus by IndianHead Cigars. For many years, Jochy Blanco has been growing tobacco and producing blends for many companies. In 2015, Blanco decided to also become a brand owner and acquired IndianHead Cigars from Bill Bock. Simultaneously, he would create a new premium brand to be a part of that company called La Galera. Fast forward to 2019 and Blanco would create a line showcasing a Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper called La Galera Anemoi. It’s a wrapper Blanco is not known to work with. As for the name Anemoi, it pays homage to the winds that play a key role in growing tobacco. Each wind’s direction can help give an idea of whether to expect a good crop or brace for a bad season.

In addition to the Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper, the remainder of the tobaccos used in the blend are Dominican and include tobacco from Blanco’s La Canela and Jacagua farms. Eurus, which is a cigar named for the Greek god for the East Wind, is a 5 1/2 x 48 Corona Gorda.

During the smoking experience, the La Galera Anemoi Eurus delivered notes of coffee, chocolate, citrus, baker’s spice, and red pepper. This is a bolder cigar in the La Galera portfolio with flavors that are medium to full-bodied for most of the cigar experience progressing to full in the final third. This was countered by medium to full strength.

The La Galera Anemoi Eurus becomes the first cigar from IndianHead Cigars to land on the Countdown. It’s the second cigar in 2020 to come from Blanco’s Tabacalera Palma.

I judged the La Galera Anemoi Eurus to be one of the best Connecticut Broadleaf cigars to come out in the past couple of years – and it’s also one of the most underrated as a whole.
