Villiger Cigars were quite active at the 2025 Premium Cigar Association (PCA) Trade Show. For starters, they were one of the sponsors for the opening party to kick off PCA 2025. In addition, the company brought two new releases and had a third release launched earlier this year. Two of the releases come from Villiger’s newest factory, Villiger de Nicaragua – located in Estelí, Nicaragua. While Villiger has other factories and other partner factories, it seems like Villiger de Nicaragua is becoming the focal point.
Villiger 1888 Gran Reserva
First up, Villiger introduced a new limited edition called the Villiger 1888 Gran Reserva. The Gran Reserva is a term that comes from the Cuban market and typically refers to cigars aged for five years. Villiger is borrowing off this concept, but in this case, the Gran Reserva features tobaccos aged for two years, followed by aging of the cigar for another year.
Villiger 1888 Gran Reserva comes from Villiger de Nicaragua. It features a Mexican San Andrés wrapper and an Ecuadorian Habano binder, encompassing all-Nicaraguan tobaccos. This cigar is available in a single size: a 6 x 54 box-pressed Toro. The 1888 Gran Reserva has a total production of 1,000 ten-count boxes. Pricing comes in at $22.00 per cigar.
La Capitana
Villiger is rebooting its La Capitana line. La Capitana gets a new presentation, a new blend, and a different factory to make it. The factory that now makes it is Villiger de Nicaragua.
The blend is positioned as a milder one featuring an Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper over a Nicaraguan binder. The fillers are both Nicaraguan and Dominican. Presented in 20-count boxes, La Capitana comes in four sizes with pricing ranging from $9.50 to $11.00 SRP per cigar.
- Lonsdale: 6 x 43 (SRP $9.50/cigar)
- Robusto: 5 x 50 (SRP $10.00/cigar)
- Toro: 6 x 50 (SRP $10.50/cigar)
- Churchill: 7 x 50 (SRP $11.00/cigar)
La Capitana is a regular production line for Villiger.
Villiger Cuéllar Caribe
Villiger Cuéllar Caribe hit the market a couple of months ago, but was still showcased at PCA 2025. Cuéllar is a line produced by Tabacalera Palma and has been one of Villiger’s most popular brands.
Connecticut Krēmē and the Black Forest are the Connecticut and San Andrés Maduro offerings under Cuéllar. Now Cuéllar gets a Habano offering with the Cuéllar Caribe. In addition to an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper, the Villiger Cuéllar Caribe features all Dominican tobaccos for the binder and filler. The cigar comes in four sizes, priced between $11.00 and $12.00.
- Robusto: 5 x 50
- Toro: 6 x 54
- Torpedo: 6 x 54
- Churchill: 7 x 50
