At the Tobacco Plus Expo (TPE) 2022, United Cigars will relaunch a budget-friendly brand for which it has held the rights for some time, the La Mezcla Cubana Rothschild.

La Mezcla Cubana is a line that was originally distributed by Victor Vitale’s The Cigar Agency. In 2013, United Cigars acquired The Cigar Agency and the brand has been dormant for a while. The cigar will now be produced at Jose Dominguez’s Magia Cubana factory located in Gurabo, Dominican Republic.

According to United cigars, the relaunch came after a Zoom call uncovered an opportunity to purchase seven-year-old Ecuadorian Shade wrapper from A.S.P. Enterprises, a family-owned tobacco farm in Ecuador. La Mezcla Cubana means “Cuban Mix” and that is because of the mix of tobaccos – including an Indonesian binder, as well as Dominican, Nicaraguan, Pennsylvanian, and a propriety blend by the Magia Cubana factory. The cigar comes in one size – a 4 1/2 x 54 Rothschild.

“This is wrapper leaf that had been aged for seven years and was selected for some luxury lines,” shared Oliver Nivaud of United Cigars. “Fortunately for us, the wrapper was only big enough for a short vitola, so it was perfect for our Rothschild.”

The cigars will be packaged in 50-count boxes with an MSRP of $299.99 for the box and $5.99 for the cigar. United Cigars has begun taking orders, and plans to start shipping the cigar in mid-February.
