Don Doroteo Cigars is launching its first regular production line, The Salt of the Earth. The line will consist of two distinct blends: Piedra Viva (Living Stone) and Pierre Angular (Corner Stone). Salt of the Earth will make its debut at the 2023 Premium Cigar Association (Trade Show).
The Salt of the Earth is being produced at the La Aurora factory in the Dominican Republic. While the company is not sharing most of the details of the blend, it is sharing that the blend will feature Andullo tobacco. Andullo tobacco undergoes a very different curing process than traditional cigar tobacco leaves. This involves putting tobacco leaves in palm seed pods. The pods are then wrapped in rope and in this case, fermented for two years, causing the Andullo tobacco to compress into a thick bar almost looking like a roll of salami. Once it has hardened, it typically is carved off. This type of tobacco is usually used in pipe or snuff, but La Aurora has worked with this tobacco in the past on premium blends. Don Doroteo will have Andullo on display and it will be available to sample at the PCA Trade Show, which opens July 7th, 2023 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
In a press release announcing Salt of the Earth, Garret Robinson, the VP of Sales at Don Doroteo, stated, “The ‘Salt of the Earth’ line is a testament to our unwavering dedication to excellence and our commitment to delivering extraordinary smoking experiences to our valued customers. We believe that the two blends we have meticulously crafted will captivate aficionados with their exceptional quality and distinct flavor profiles.”
