United Cigars has announced that the Red Anchor Commodore, a 7 x 55 line extension to its Red Anchor line, is now available. This was one of four new sizes for Red Anchor introduced at the 2023 Premium Cigar Association (PCA) Trade Show.
The Red Anchor Commodore joins the Admiral (6 x 52), Gunner (6 1/2 x 43), and Captain (5 x 50) as regular production sizes. The Admiral was the initial size launched when Red Anchor returned in 2022. The Gunner and Captain sizes were shipped in August. A fifth size, called Cooper (4 1/2 x 43), is being offered as an event-only cigar.
Red Anchor was a dormant brand that was re-acquired by United Cigar. The brand traces its roots back to 1772. Last year, Red Anchor was launched in a single size (Admiral) to coincide with the 250th anniversary of the brand. United has contracted with Hendrik Kelner Jr‘s KBF factory to produce the Red Anchor line.
“Creating a blend with tobaccos from the Kelner family was an educational experience,” said Oliver Nivaud, Director of Operations for United Cigars, in a press release. “These cigars pay homage to a long-standing tradition, a tribute to heritage and excellence. We hope that cigar enthusiasts worldwide will savor the richness and elegance that defined cigars half a century ago.”
An Ecuadorian Habano 2000 wrapper highlights the blend of Red Anchor. The blend also incorporates Dominican Monte Plata binder from the Kelner family farms and a combination of Dominican and Pennsylvania fillers. The Red Ancho Commodore will come in 25-count boxes for $30.00 SRP/cigar or $750.00 SRP/box.
