Gurkha Cigar has announced it is expanding its Year of the Dragon project into a collaboration series. In December 2023, Gurkha shipped its Year of the Dragon, a cigar made by the El Artista factory in the Dominican Republic. Now, Gurkha is adding four more Year of the Dragon releases, each made in collaboration with a different manufacturing partner.

Each manufacturing partner will deliver a different cigar in a different colored commemorative box)

  • December 2023: El Arista (6 3/4 x 52 Figurado, Red Commemorative Box, 15 Count) – Released
  • February 2024: AJ Fernandez (6 5/8 x 52 Box Pressed, Green Commemorative Box, 10 Count)
  • April 2024: Ernesto Perez-Carrillo (6 5/8 x 54 Toro, Black Commemorative Box, 10 Count)
  • June 2024: Oliva Cigar Company (6 1/2 x 60, Orange Commemorative Box, 10 Count)

A total of 2,000 boxes for each of the four new collaborator blends will be released.

At the 2023 Premium Cigar Association (PCA) Trade Show), Gurkha will also showcase a new 200-count humidor. Each humidor will contain 80 cigars (20 from each new collaborator blend).

“Each of the boxes are designed as small desktop humidors,” says Jim Colucci, president of Gurkha Cigars in a press release. “In addition, the master humidor makes for a beautiful collection of Year of the Dragon Memorabilia.”

“We are extremely excited about this project,” added Juan Lopez, Vice President of Sales for Gurkha Cigars. “It truly feels like a one of a kind opportunity to release and work with these modern day legends of the industry. My team and I are excited to share this with the cigar smoking community and can’t wait to show everyone the finished product.”
