Foundation Cigar Company is moving its production from Aganorsa Leaf (Agricola Ganadera Norteña S.A.). With this move, Foundation will also discontinue the El Güegüense and Wise Man Maduro lines produced out of Aganorsa. It will replace them with two cigars: The Wise Man Corojo and The Wise Man Maduro. Both of these cigars will be made at the My Father Cigars factory. The two new cigars will launch at the 2024 Premium Cigar Association (PCA) Trade Show.
El Güegüense was the first brand launched by Nicholas Melillo when he formed Foundation Cigar Company in 2015. Two years later, The Wise Man Maduro followed, and it would go on to dominate the cigar media’s year-end lists. For Foundation Cigar Company, it marks the first time the company has worked with My Father Cigars.
“While it’s bittersweet to say goodbye to the El Güegüense brand, it holds a special place in the history of Foundation Cigars. We believe it will become one of our most collectible and sought-after cigars.” said Melillo in a press release.
The Wise Man Corojo
El Güegüense was a Nicaraguan puro with a Corojo wrapper. The Wise Man Corojo will also be a Nicaraguan puro; as the name indicates, it will also feature a Corojo wrapper. Meanwhile, The Wise Man Maduro featured a San Andres wrapper over Nicaraguan tobacco. The new Wise Man Maduro will also use a San Andres wrapper over Nicaraguan tobaccos. Both The Wise Man Corojo and The Wise Man Maduro are different blends from El Güegüense and The Wise Man Maduro.
Available in 20-count boxes, both Wise Man Corojo and Wise Man Maduro will be offered in the same four sizes. These sizes include Corona, Robusto, Toro, and Double Corona.
The 2024 PCA Trade Show opens on March 23, 2024, in Las Vegas, Nevada.
