Gurkha Cigars has announced it is shipping the Gurkha Year of the Dragon by Oscar Valladares. This is the third of a four-cigar collaboration series by Gurkha Cigars, themed for China’s Year of the Dragon.
At the 2024 Premium Cigar Association (PCA) Trade Show, Gurkha debuted the Year of the Dragon series. Each of the four cigars was done with a different, well-known manufacturing partner. Moreover, each release has a different blend, size, and color for its packaging scheme. The releases include:
- AJ Fernandez (6 5/8 x 52 Box Pressed, Green Commemorative Box, Ten-count)
- E.P. Carrillo (Casa Carrillo) (6 5/8 x 54 Toro, Black Commemorative Box, Ten-count)
- Oliva Cigar Company (6 1/2 x 60, Orange Commemorative Box, Ten-count)
- Oscar Valladares (6 x 52, Yellow Commemorative Box, Ten-count)
The Gurkha Year of the Dragon by Oscar Valladares is a 6 x 52 Toro. It is produced at Oscar Valladares’ factory in Honduras. The blend features a Corojo wrapper over all Honduran binder and filler.
“It’s been a while since we released a blend made in Honduras,” said Jim Colucci, President of Gurkha Cigar Group, in a press release. “When Oscar [Valladares] came to visit us the first time, we immediately said we wanted to partner with him on something special, and so we did! It’s been a pleasure to work with the entire Oscar Valladares Team, and we look forward to future partnerships.”
“We’re proud to partner with Oscar Valladares and his team to produce this phenomenal cigar,” added Juan Lopez, Vice President of Sales at Gurkha Cigar Group. “This will not be the last time you see the Valladares name on one of our brands for sure.”
Pricing comes in at $25.00 MSRP, the same as the rest of the collection.
Once this release’s shipping is complete, all of the Year of the Dragon cigars announced for 2024 will have shipped. In 2023, Gurkha released a Year of the Dragon cigar with El Artista. In the future, Gurkha plans to release collections with each manufacturer, including honoring 2025 as the Year of the Snake.
