Somm Cigars has announced it is shipping a lancero size of the Somm Rioja to seven retailers. Vlada Stojanov, the founder of Somm Cigars, stated that, originally, the Rioja Lancero was not meant for release. Rather, it was intended as a personal size cigar to be shared with fans and retailers. However, due to demand from those who had tried it, Stojanov decided to produce a limited run.
“My longstanding friendship with a number of retailers and their regulars who had a chance to try this size ultimately prevailed. I’m grateful for their feedback and persistence in pushing me to share this with the broader cigar community. The production numbers are small, as these were intended for my personal use and as gifts. Crafting the lancero has been one of my favorite experiences, and I truly enjoyed blending it precisely to this classic size,” commented Stojanov in a press release.
The seven retailers receiving the Rioja Lancero are:
- Humidor of Lisle, Lisle, IL
- Luxury Cigar Club, Cottonwood, AZ
- Maxamar/Small Batch Cigar, Orange, CA
- Morgan Hill Cigar Company, Morgan Hill, CA
- The Cigar Farm, Greencastle, PA
- Smoke Lounge, Manayunk, PA
- Vault 1905, Meridian, ID
The Rioja Lancero features the same blend as the core line. Somm Rioja is highlighted by three-year-aged Dominican Corojo wrappers, three-year-aged Sumatra binders, and four fillers from the Dominican Republic that have been aged four years. The lancero comes in a 7 x 39 format presented in ten-count bundles. Somm Cigars said the blend was specially adjusted for the lancero format.
