Para José Seijas

Matilde Cigars will release sa new cigar called Para José Seijas. It’s named for the patriarch of the Seijas family and founder of Matilde Cigars, José Seijas. The cigar is slated for an April 2025 release.

Matilde Cigars says the tribute to Seijas embodies three core passions: family, tobacco, and giving back.

“Family was the cornerstone of our father’s existence. Despite long hours spent in the factory, he always prioritized quality time at home, ensuring that every moment shared was filled with love. This is the first cigar under our company to carry his name, celebrating the profound impact he had on our lives,” commented Matilde Cigars’ owner Enrique Seijas in a press release.

“Tobacco was not just a job for my father; it was his life’s devotion. With meticulous care, we selected only the finest tobacco and have aged this cigar for over a year. Each Para José Seijas cigar reflects the essence of his passion and craftsmanship.” added Enrique.

Matilde Cigars has said that a key principle throughout José Seijas’ life was helping those in need. He looked out for his employees and supported those needing assistance. Once Seijas had his own battle with Parkinson’s disease, this principle took on new meaning. Matilde Cigars is donating a portion of the proceeds from Para José Seijas to the Parkinson’s Foundation in the Dominican Republic (Fundacion Dominicana Contra el Mal del Parkinson – FUNDOCONEDEP).

Produced at Tabacalera La Isla in the Dominican Republic, Para José Seijas features an Ecuadorian wrapper over all Dominican binders and fillers. Para José Seijas is presented in 20-count boxes and comes in one size, a 52 x 6 Toro. Pricing is $18.00 per cigar. This is also the first Matilde release to carry the Seijas name.

Before founding Matilde Cigars, José Seijas was best known for his tenure at Tabacalera de Garcia, where he served as Master Blender and Vice President of Operations.  Seijas passed away in November 2024. He was 74 years old.

Para José Seijas is expected to be showcased at the 2025 Premium Cigar Association (PCA) Trade Show.
