Davidoff Expanded Production Facilities

On the eve of the 2025 Procigar Festival in the Dominican Republic, Davidoff  held a grand opening ceremony for its newly expanded Tabadom production facilities in Villa Gonzalez, Dominican Republic. Davidoff CEO Beat Hauenstein, Vice President and Head of Global Production Hamlet Espinal, and Oettinger Davidoff Chairman of the Board Domenico Scala hosted the event.

Davidoff says the Tabadom expansion was necessary to respond to the market’s high demand. “It is special because the inauguration coincides with the 150th anniversary of our company, Oettinger Davidoff,” said Domenico Scala at the grand opening ceremony.

“Thanks to the shared vision of all of us who were a part of this project, today we can have succeeded and this dream has become reality,” said Hamlet Espinal at the launch ceremony.

While Oettinger Davidoff is based in Switzerland, Tabadom Holding is a subsidiary that serves as its Dominican production facility. The facility has two factories: Cigars Davidoff and OK Cigars. Cigars Davidoff is dedicated to the Davidoff-branded cigars. Meanwhile, OK Cigars produces other brands, including AVO, The Griffin’s, and Cusano. Both factories underwent a significant expansion totaling 1,000 square meters.

Tabadom Holdings has opened a new facility called a “Blending Center.” This center focuses on preparing tobacco to supply both the Davidoff and OK Cigars facilities.

Finally, Tabadom Holdings has also increased its tobacco storage space in nearby Jicomé by 840 square meters, or 40.5%. “A very nice problem solved,” said Beat Hauenstein when describing what the expansion meant.

In addition, Tabadom Holdings has built a new employee cafeteria with a capacity to serve 196 people and a new entrance to its facility.

Henke Kelner founded Tabadom Holdings. In 1991, Tabadom took over Davidoff’s production after Zino Davidoff pulled his production out of Cuba. Since then, Tabadom has been absorbed by Oettinger Davidoff. Stay tuned for our exclusive interview with Davidoff CEO Beat Hauenstein in an upcoming report.
