At the 2025 Premium Cigar Association (PCA) Trade Show, Selected Tobacco unveiled the Byron 175th Anniversary Humidor. As the name suggests, the humidor commemorates 175 years of the Byron brand.
The Byron brand traces its origins to Cuba in 1850, where the Byron Selección 1850 derives its name. In 1850, Jose and Eusebio Alfonso created the “Lord Byron” – one of which was Selected Tobacco owner Nelson Alfonso’s great-great-great-grandfather. The original cigar was made in a small factory in Santiago de las Vegas in the Havana province of Cuba. The name Byron honors George Gordon Byron, better known as “Lord Byron” – a renowned English poet. The brand lasted over 80 years before it folded during the Great Depression of the 1930s. The brand would be dormant until 1998, when Nelson Alfonso would recover the Byron brand name.

In a press release before PCA 2025, Nelson Alfonso, the visionary behind Selected Tobacco, shares, “For me, Byron is not only a cigar. It is a story of my family, of my country, of the time. This humidor is to honor this story, one piece of my soul in each box. We age the cigars with patience, with love. This is not only to smoke, it is to feel.”
At the time of the show, pricing was unavailable, but retailers have listed the humidor before shipping at $4,800.
