PCA 2025 Selected Tobacco

After missing the 2024 Premium Cigar Association (PCA) Trade Show, Selected Tobacco returned to the 2025 Trade Show. It allowed the Cigar Coop Coalition team to award owner Nelson Alfonso and his family the #2 Cigar of the Year award for 2023 for the  Alfonso Extra Añejo No. 2. 2025 is a significant year for Selected Tobacco as it marks the 175th anniversary of the Byron brand. In addition, the Bandolero brand has introduced a new band along with a commemorative gift set. Furthermore, the highly anticipated Nelson project is set to be released soon. As always, visiting the Selected Tobacco booth offers an experience akin to that of a luxury car showroom.

United Cigars distributes Selected Tobacco in the U.S. The Selected Tobacco booth was located adjacent to the United Cigars booth.

Byron

Byron 175th Anniversary Humidor

In celebration of 175 years of Byron, two remarkable releases highlight the craftsmanship of Nelson Alfonso, known for his exquisite humidors and aged cigars. The Byron 175th Humidor is quite stunning, designed by Alfonso in a striking ultramarine blue. This piece features multiple hidden drawers, cleverly concealing a matching three-finger cigar case and an ashtray within.

The humidor also comes with 60 cigars. This includes 15 cigars from the four lines under the Byron brand. Pricing for the unit is set at $4,800. The cigars included are:

  • Byron 1850 No.3 (6×52)
  • Byron 19th Century Grand Poemas (6 x 56)
  • Byron 20th Century Habaneros (6 x 54)
  • Byron 21st Century Elegantes (6 1/8 x 55)

Byron 21st Century Aristocratas 10 Year Aged

Selected Tobacco is releasing the Byron 21st Century Aristocratas 10 Year Aged. As the name indicates, this is a version of the Aristocratas ten years post-roll. Alfonso did a similar project in 2023 with the Atabey Dioses and Misticos 10-Year Aged editions. Typically aged for four years in meticulously controlled cedar-lined humidors, the Aristocratas has undergone an entire decade of aging, subjected to Nelson Alfonso’s proprietary method of fluctuating humidity levels that mirrors the careful refinement of vintage wines and spirits.

The Byron 21st Century Aristocratas 10-Year Aged comes packaged in a 25-count black piano lacquer box. Pricing comes in at $43.50 SRP/cigar. Aristocratas is a long, 8 x 52 vitola.

Bandolero

Bandolero Premium

Selected Tobacco has unveiled a limited production blend known as Bandolero Premium, and its exclusivity is largely attributed to the meticulous aging process overseen by owner Nelson Alfonso. Once rolled in Costa Rica, the cigars are placed in Alfonso’s aging room, where they undergo a painstaking three-year aging process in humidors that are lined with five different types of cedar.

The blend features an Ecuadorian Habano 2000 wrapper paired with a Nicaraguan binder. For the fillers, a rich combination of Nicaraguan ligero and Peruvian tobaccos is used. Bandolero Premium has already begun shipping to retailers. Bandolero Premium comes in three sizes:

  • Ironicos: 4 1/2 x 50 (SRP $24.00/cigar)
  • Bravos: 5 1/4 x 52 (SRP $32.00/cigar)
  • Magnificos: 6 x 55 (SRP $38.00/cigar)

At the 2022 Premium Cigar Association (PCA) Trade Show, Selected Tobacco previewed a new brand called Nelson. Since then, there hasn’t been much information released about it. However, we have been informed that Nelson will be launched in the near future. Selected Tobacco even has an official brand website.
