H. Upmann was one of several new brands showcased by Altadis U.S.A. at the 2025 Premium Cigar Association (PCA) Trade Show. In recent years, the partnership between AJ Fernandez and Altadis U.S.A. has proven to be highly successful. One notable outcome of this collaboration is the introduction of H. Upmann-branded cigars made by AJ Fernandez. This partnership has enabled Altadis U.S.A. to continue innovating within the H. Upmann brand and connect with new consumers. In 2025, Altadis U.S.A. introduced the H. Upmann by AJ Fernandez Heritage Finca Providencia, a limited edition cigar that pays homage to one of Fernandez’s many farms in Nicaragua.
The H. Upmann Heritage Finca La Providencia features all Nicaraguan tobaccos. It also goes a step further in that all of the Nicaraguan tobaccos are grown on AJ Fernandez’s Finca (farm) Providencia. The cigar is a 55 x 6 Toro that comes in 20-count boxes, with a total of 8,250 boxes produced. Pricing comes in at $20.00 per cigar. Fernandez also produces it. The H. Upmann Heritage Finca La Providencia has started to make its way to stores.

As many know, a serious fire occurred at Tabacalera AJ Fernandez Cigars de Nicaragua S.A. in Estelí, Nicaragua. The recent fire has impacted many cigars produced for various companies, including Altadis U.S.A. While the Heritage Finca La Providencia successfully left the factory, several other brands have not. In our interview, Rafael Nodal, Vice President of Product Capability, shares insights about the new cigar and provides some heartfelt reflections on the fire.
