At the 2025 Premium Cigar Association (PCA) Trade Show, Matilde Cigars paid homage to its late founder, José Seijas. Before founding Matilde Cigars, José Seijas was best known for his tenure at Tabacalera de Garcia, where he served as Master Blender and Vice President of Operations. Seijas passed away in November 2024 from Parkinson’s disease. He was 74 years old. This year, José’s son Enrique released a cigar with his father’s name on it. The cigar not only pays tribute to Seijas, but Matilde Cigars is donating a portion of the proceeds from Para José Seijas to the Parkinson’s Foundation in the Dominican Republic (Fundacion Dominicana Contra el Mal del Parkinson – FUNDOCONEDEP).
Produced at Tabacalera La Isla in the Dominican Republic, Para José Seijas features an Ecuadorian wrapper over all Dominican binders and fillers. It’s a limited production release. Para José Seijas is presented in 20-count boxes and comes in one size, a 52 x 6 Toro. Pricing is $18.00 per cigar. This is also the first Matilde release to carry the Seijas name. The cigar is currently shipping to retailers.
