The long-awaited Nelson, a cigar line first shown by Selected Tobacco at the 2022 Premium Cigar Association (PCA) Trade Show, is finally getting a launch. The cigar is being launched in a new limited edition gift set shown at the 2025 Premium Cigar Association Trade Show.
The Nelson will be available exclusively as a 6 × 54 vitola as part of the limited edition gift set that includes five, four-year-aged cigars and a custom-designed ashtray created by Alfonso himself. Each cigar comes housed in a protective, cosmetic-grade aluminum tube.
Blend-wise, the Nelson features an Ecuadorian Habano 2000 wrapper over an Ecuadorian binder. The fillers are a combination of Dominican and Peruvian tobaccos. The cigars undergo Selected Tobacco’s proprietary aging process for four years in specialized rooms with cedar from five different species. Production for The Nelson occurs in Costa Rica, but the cigars are aged in Spain.
“The Nelson represents both our past and our future,” said Nelson Alfonso, founder of Selected Tobacco. “This is our line that we are releasing, created and blended with my sons.”
The Nelson Gift Set is priced at $160.00 SRP and is currently shipping to authorized retailers. Selected Tobacco is distributed in the United States by United Cigars.
