Emilio Cigars Brand Developer Gary Griffith has announced on his Facebook account plans for the second cigar in the Emilio Cigars Draig Series. The cigar will be called the Draig Cayuquero. Griffith described a little of the background of this cigar and mentioned the cigar is being planned for a launch at the 2013 IPCPR Trade Show this July in Las Vegas.
is a small town in the far western part of Pinar del Rio, Cuba, called
El Cayuco. Some of the locals are known as “Cayuqueros” which translates
loosely as “trouble makers.” One of these problem children is a dear
friend, and in his honor I am announcing that this year’s Draig Limitado
will be a joint effort with Noel Rojas. The cigars will be released at
IPCPR in July, and will be produced in the same quantities and sizes as
Back in December, 2011 Griffith announced plans of the Draig concept and Draig K cigar. The original plan was to use a different factory and different blend for each release. The cigars are intended to be produced in small batches and made available in limited releases. Griffith has been on the record as saying “Assuming continued availability of the wrapper tobacco we may produce
these annually” (referring to the original Draig K)
Rojas founded Guayacan Cigars. This is one of the companies distributed by Emilio Cigars.
There were no specifics of the blend disclosed, however Griffith did post a picture on twitter indicating the wrapper might be Arapiraca. Assuming it is the same sizes as the Draig K, this would mean the following vitolas: Corona (5 1/2 x 42); Robusto (5 x 50); and Toro (6 x 50)
