Gabriel Alvarez, Operations Manager for Kuuts LLC was a guest on Episode 88 of Stogie Geeks. He talked about plans for a new cigar called the Kuuts Nicaraguan blend. He also confirmed the company is still working on a Miro Maduro which it was announced for the first time that it will be known as Miro Capa Negra. Both projects are targeted for launch at the 2014 IPCPR Trade Show.
According Alvarez, the Kuuts Nicaraguan blend will feature an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper. Alvarez says that the blend has been finalized and there are five sizes being targeted.
Alvarez also confirmed the Miro Maduro project. He says this will be known as the Miro Capa Negra. He said this cigar’s blend is about “95%” and it still going under some tweaking and will feature a San Andres Oscuro. Alvarez says the band will be similar to the core line Miro.
In terms of the Miro band on the core line, there will be a slight change made to the banding where some of the writing is eliminated because it is was difficult to read. The other components will remain the same.
The name Kuuts is Mayan for cigar. Last year Kuuts announced its intentions to enter the United States market. The cigars are made by Compania Hondurena de Tabacos and has a strong presence in Europe. The company recently opened a new factory in Danli, Honduras. Kuuts LLC was established to distribute the Miro brand along with Compania’s two other lines – Placeres Reserva and Tabacalera Zapata.
