Oliva Cigar and Padilla Cigar Company have announced they are ending their distribution agreement. According to a report in the 12/2/14 Cigar Insider, the change will take place January 15, 2015. Company President Ernesto Padilla also told Cigar Insider he will be building his own team to handle distribution.
It was back in September of 2012 when Padilla announced it was entering into a distribution agreement with Oliva Cigar. This was one on the heels of an entire restructuring of the Padilla Cigar portfolio. Cigar Insider has said Oliva will continue to manufacture the Padilla Cava, Padilla Connecticut, Padilla Reserva, and Padilla Reserva Maduros. The The Invticus and Miami Maduro’s will made at El Titan de Bronze in Miami.
Padilla Cigars is the second company in less than a month to take back its distribution. Back in November, El Primer Mundo announced it was ending its distribution agreement with PDR Cigars and taking back distribution.
