Duran Cigars will add a new line under its Azan line. Today the company officially announced the Azan Blue Connecticut. The Azan Blue will become the fourth blend under Duran’s Azan line and will become the company’s first Connecticut Shade cigar.
Azan Blue features a Connecticut-seed wrapper that comes from the company’s Fincas Azan plantation in Ecuador. The remainder of the blend features Nicaraguan tobaccos for the binder and filler. The cigar will come in three sizes: Robusto (5 x 50), Campana (6 x 52) and Toro de Luxe (6 1⁄2 x 54). The cigars will be packaged in 20 count boxes with pricing between $7.00 and $8.00.
In a press release, owner Roberto Pelayo Duran commented, “I am very excited about our incursion into the Connecticut wrappers. I was following very closely the crop at Fincas Azan last year and couldn’t believe the size and quality of the leaves. Tasting the cigars and appreciating the beauty of the wrapper now give me tremendous joy and can’t wait to see the reaction of the Azan smokers”
Azan Blue joins the Azan White Premium, Azan Burgundy, and Azan Maduro Natural. The Azan brand is an old Cuban line that was resurrected by Duran when he launched the company.
Miguel Schoedel, National Sales Manager at Duran Cigars, added: “I have always admired the Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper. This particular crop is exceptional. I am looking forward to introduce this newest Azan to our retailers and consumers at this year’s trade show.”
