Anthracite+by+JA3+Cigars

Jordan Alexander III Premium Cigars Company (JA3 Cigars) has announced its newest regular production line called Anthracite. For this cigar the company pays homage to the coal-mining industry, an important part of the landscape of Northeast Pennsylvania where JA3 Cigars is based. The Anthracite becomes the company’s second regular production line joining the JA3 Corojo.  The new cigar will ship to retailers this summer.

Anthracite is a type of coal that is found in Pennsylvania, specifically Scranton. Anthracite is one of the oldest, darkest, hardest, and purest varieties of coal in the world.  Scranton has a very rich mining history for this type of coal with many of the coal breakers (production facilities) still intact as landmarks.

One way the JA3 Anthracite pays homage to the coal industry is through the Mexican San Andres wrapper. In a press release, the company commented, “We’ve chosen a blend that honors the dark coal and the pure ash it leaves behind by using a rich Mexican San Andres wrapper and a blend that burns with a solid, white and grey ash.”

The remainder of the blend uses a Dominican binder, and a filler consisting of Dominican Criollos and Nicaraguan tobacco. Like the JA3 Corojo, the Anthracite is produced at the Quesada Cigars Factory in the Dominicnan Republic. The Anthracite will be available in three vitolas; The Marvin (5 x 52), The Avondale (4 1/2 x 60), and The Bellevue (6 1/2 x 48) – with each of the names inspired by the coal breakers in the Northeastern Pennsylvania region. Each of the three sizes are available in 18 count boxes.

“Our hometown is incredibly important to the JA3 brand,” commented JA3, “We’re very proud of where we come from and are excited to honor its history with this line. The Anthracite Heritage Museum showed us the incredible history that built the Scranton area, and we’re very thankful for their help and continued efforts in preserving and promoting our region’s past.”
