Add Oregon to the list of U.S. States to raise the tobacco purchase age to 21. Governor Kate Brown signed a bill passed by the Oregon legislature that made Oregon the fifth state to have age 21 as the minimum age to buy tobacco products.

Oregon joins Hawaii, California, New Jersey, and Maine as States that have raised the tobacco purchase age to 21. The moves in New Jersey and Maine have occurred in the last month. Now 10% of U.S. States have a minimum tobacco purchase age of 21.

The new law goes into effect immediately.
