Partagas 1845, a line first introduced in 2012, is getting a major overhaul. At the 2017 IPCPR Trade Show, General Cigar Company introduced new blends and new packaging for its Partagas 1845 line.
First up, the original Partagas 1845 line is being rebranded the Partagas 1845 Clásico. It will feature a new blend consisting of an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper, a Connecticut Broadleaf binder, and filler from Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic. It will be available in four sizes.
Meanwhile, the Partagas 1845 Extra Fuerte also gets a new blend. The revamped blend now features a Honduran Olancho San Agustin wrapper, a Connecticut Habano binder and filler from Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic. It will also be available in four sizes. The original Extra Fuerte was sold as a brick and mortar offering, but the revamped Extra Fuerte will now be available through all distribution channels.
Finally the Partagas 1845 Extra Oscuro also gets a new blend featuring both a Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper and binder over a combination of Nicaraguan and Dominican filler. It will also be available in four sizes. The original Extra Oscuro was sold as an internet/catalog offering, but the revamped Extra Oscuro will now be available through all distribution channels.
Gone are the acrylic slide top lid boxes from the Partagas 1845 line. These have been replaced by contemporary-looking 25-count wrap boxes. These boxes definitely looked more FDA-warning-label-friendly than the slide top boxes. As for the bands, each blend keeps the same eagle design as the original.
“Within the Partagas portfolio, the 1845 franchise stands apart for its ability to bridge the brand’s rich heritage and symbolism with contemporary influences. We’ve continued along this path by reimagining Partagas 1845 with a modern lens. The new Partagas 1845 blends give a nod to the brand’s storied history while delivering added complexity and more competitive pricing to resonate with discerning smokers of today,” commented Andres Maturen, brand manager for Partagas.
