Gary”Doc” Laden, founder and host of the Smooth Draws Radio Show passed away in Atlanta, Georgia at 4:10 am this morning.

A medical doctor by trade, in 2015 Doc took his love of cigars and the cigar lifestyle and co-founded a radio show called Cigar Guys Radio. In 2016, the show was rebranded the Smooth Draws Radio Show. Doc was able to bring his vision to cigar enthusiasts dubbed the “Smooth Operators” each week on Atlanta’s ESPN affiliate radio station as well streaming it worldwide. Doc loved working on the show, and put countless hours into the development and production of the show.

Doc is survived by his wife Susan, children, and grandchildren.

Editor’s Note: From a personal level, today I lost a colleague and a friend. Doc gave me an opportunity to do true radio. We had a lot of fun in the process. Today, our thoughts and prayers are with his family. We lost a brother in the cigar media today, someone who was successfully able to bring a cigar broadcast to the big stage. I’m personally committed to ensuring that Doc’s hard work,  contributions, and tireless efforts will never be forgotten. Rest in peace, my friend.
