Coming in at #15 is Cornelius & Anthony – The Gent Robusto. This cigar made its debut at the 2018 IPCPR Trade Show.
The Gent was released with another cigar called The Mistress. While these cigars made seem joined at the hip, they could not be more different The Mistress is a powerhouse parejo cigar while the Gent is a more refined box-pressed cigar. The Gent is the first box-pressed cigar to come from Cornelius & Anthony. By landing on this year’s Countdown, the Gent gives Cornelius & Anthony a spot on the Countdown for the second year in a row.
The Gent comes from Cornelius & Anthony’s manufacturing partner, the La Zona factory. It’s a cigar that features an Ecuadorian Rosado wrapper over a U.S. binder, and a combination of Honduran and Nicaraguan filler. The box-pressed Robusto measures 5 x 52.
The Gent Robusto delivers a nice amount of complexity throughout the smoking experience. This includes notes of coffee, earth, natural tobacco, cream, cedar, and a unique mineral note. This is a cigar that for the most part smokes as a medium strength, medium-bodied cigar before finishing up in the medium to full range for both attributes.
The combination of excellent flavor and a nice amount of complexity makes for a winner with The Gent. This is a cigar that can satisfy anyone from a novice to the most experienced cigar enthusiast. It’s a cigar that earns its place on the 2018 Countdown.
