At the 2019 IPCPRR Trade Show, Steve Saka‘s Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust will release an offshoot of his Mi Querida line known as the Mi Querida Triqui Traca. Saka made the announcement on a video posted to his Facebook page.
The genesis of the Mi Querida Triqui Traca goes back to the Mi Querida Firecracker project that Saka did for New Hampshire-based retailer, Two Guys Smoke Shop in 2018. The Firecracker project features blends by leading manufacturers put into a 3 1/2 x 50 size featuring a long fuse much like a Firecracker. For that project, Saka released the Mi Querida Firecracker using an alternative blend that was stronger than the original Firecracker. With Mi Querida Triqui Traca, Saka takes that alternative blend and releases it in two other formats.
Mi Querida Triqui Traca will be released in a 5 x 52 and a 6 x 48 format. The 3 1/2 x 50 Firecracker size will remain exclusive to Two Guys Smoke Shop, and Saka says another 500 boxes will be released to the retailer this year.
As for the name, Saka says it is a Nicaraguan slang word that references large firecrackers that almost resemble sticks of dynamite. These are typically set off on the streets during celebrations in Nicaragua.
Packaging wise, Saka says the cigars will have red bands and will also feature a chevron on the packaging.
