While General Cigar has been working with AJ Fernandez to create many new blends in its portfolio, they wanted to see what he could do with an old favorite. At this year’s IPCPR Trade Show, General Cigar will unveil the Hoyo La Amistad Dark Sumatra. It’s a new spin on General Cigar’s classic Hoyo de Monterrey Dark Sumatra line.

The original Hoyo de Monterrey Dark Sumatra is a blend that has been in existence for two decades and was produced at the HATSA factory. With Fernandez’s Hoyo La Amistad Dark Sumatra, it uses the same blend, but this time it is rolled by the torcedors at Fernandez’s factory in Estelí, Nicaragua – and uses tobaccos fermented and aged under Fernandez’s direction.

The blend itself features an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper over a Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper and a combination of Dominican, Honduran, and Nicaraguan tobaccos. The cigars are being released in three sizes.

The Hoyo La Amistad Dark Sumatra is the fourth release under the Hoyo La Amistad line, a collaboration series done between General Cigar and Fernandez.
