El Artista Cigars’ The Slugger, one of two blends created in conjunction with baseball superstar David Ortiz, is getting a new size in the form of a 50 x 5 Robusto. The Robusto size joins the Gordo XL vitola that currently exists in El Artista’s The Slugger line. The cigar will make its debut at the 2021 Premium Cigar Association Trade Show
“David’s brand continues to grow,” states Radhames ‘Ram’ Rodriguez, President of El Artista Cigars, “and since The Slugger’s launch two years ago we have had requests to bring out a new size to complement the existing Gordo XL.”
Like the Gordo XL, the new size consists of a San Andres Maduro wrapper, Dominican Negrito binder, and fillers from Nicaragua, the Dominican Republic, and the U.S. As mentioned above, The Slugger is one of two blends created for Ortiz, the other is the original Big Papi line. According to El Artista, The Slugger includes several ligero tobaccos for a noticeably stronger smoke than the original Big Papi line.
El Artista Cigars says the new Robusto size was a result of feedback by fans and retailers alike, “We have hosted many dozens of events with Big Papi since 2018 and gathered a lot of feedback from fans and retailers about The Slugger,” says Kevin Newman, Director of Sales & Marketing for El Artista Cigars. “There were many requests over the last 24 months for a Robusto, and this year we happy to bring it to PCA ‘21.”
The Robusto is presented in 20-count boxes with pricing set at $10.50 per cigar.
The PCA Trade Show opens July 10, 2021, in Las Vegas, Nevada. El Artista expects to ship orders starting the first week of August 2021.
