While Mo Maali and Patina Cigars have been coming to the Premium Cigar Association Trade Show for several years, this is actually the first time that Patina is launching a new cigar at the Trade Show. That cigar is the fourth regular production cigar, the Patina Sumatra. Maali has focused his brand on regular production releases that are branded with Patina as he feels this is the best way to build brand awareness. Patina once again was a part of the Sutliff Tobacco booth. Over the past couple of years, Sutliff has quietly been working with smaller cigar companies and handling distribution for these companies. It has created almost a trade show within a trade show at the booth.
Maali describes the Patina Sumatra as the fullest offering in his portfolio to date. Patina Sumatra is highlighted by an Ecuadorian Sumatra Oscuro wrapper, Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper, and a combination of U.S. and Nicaraguan fillers. Patina Sumatra is offered in four vitolas: Precipitation (4 x 50), Rustic (5 x 52), Copper (6 x 46), and Bronze (6 x 52). Each is presented in 16-count boxes. Pricing ranges from $8.95 to $12.95. Production comes from Patina’s manufacturing partner, Nicaragua American Cigars S.A. (NACSA).
Patina has also introduced humidified sampler bags that contain one cigar in a “Rustic” (Robusto size) from each of Patina’s four regular production lines: Habano, Connecticut, Maduro, ad Sumatra.
