German Engineered Cigars has announced its third blend in its portfolio, Weltschmerz. This cigar joins RVGN Rauchvergnügen and Raumzeit. Like Raumzit, the Weltschmerz was developed in partnership with Claudio Sgroi.
According to German Engineered Cigars, Weltschmerz is German for “a feeling of melancholy and world-weariness.“ The company further says “It’s a cigar for the darker moments of life. The cigar is dark, the aromas complex, the feeling soothing. We describe the aromatic experience of Weltschmerz as ‘Back in the rolling hills of home. The oven still warm, childhood memories in the air. All is well.'”
The cigar is produced out of Tabacalera Tambor in Nicaragua and features an Ecuadorian Habano Oscuro wrapper over Nicaraguan binder and fillers.
This cigar had a soft launch earlier this year when it was made available in a three-pack as a part of the Automon Lineup bundle. With that release, cigar enthusiasts and retailers had a chance to select one of the sizes for the blend. The company has announced that the Perfecto size was the winner. This size would join the Robusto size which had already been preselected by the German Engineered Cigars team. The voting results were as follows:
Perfecto 52.9% (5 1/2 x 54)
Churchill: 26.1% (7 x 47)
Corona Grande 21.0% (6 x 42)
The Weltschmerz Robusto will be released in November 2022 in the U.S. market. Meanwhile, the Perfecto size will now go into production. In March 2023, both formats will be available internationally. Pricing for the Robusto will be US$12 / €12. Meanwhile, pricing for the Perfecto will be US$14 / €14.
The company says the remaining cigars from the Automon Lineup package will be available in ten-count bundles sold under the Automon name. Automon is an experimental brand in the German Engineered Cigars portfolio. Pricing is set as follows: Corona Grande ($10.00), Churchill ($13.00), and Perfecto ($14.00).
