On the June 8, 2023 edition of Freestyle Live, Drew Estate announced its fifth Freestyle Live mystery cigar has been revealed to be the Liga Privada H99 Papas Fritas.
In 2012, Drew Estate unveiled the original Liga Privada Papa Fritas. This was a short filler cigar made from the leftover trimmings of the Liga Privada Cigars. The Liga Privada H99 follows in the same mold. This also is a short filler cigar made from Liga Privada trimmings, but the cigar is covered with Drew Estate’s Connecticut Corojo H99 wrapper. The Connecticut Corojo H99 is a hybrid wrapper grown in Connecticut and made from Connecticut Habano (the leaf for the Liga Privada T52 wrapper) and Corojo 99. The H99 wrapper had been scarce when the H99 cigar was first introduced, but over the past few years Drew Estate has been able to work with its farmer to increase the yield of the crop, thus increase the availability of the wrapper.
The Liga Privada H99 Papas Fritas measures 115mm x 44 (4 1/2 x 44) – the same as the original Papas Fritas offering. The cigars are being offered in 25-count boxes. Pricing is set at $7.50 per cigar.
The company says the cigar will ship to DDRP Level 2 retailers the week following the June 8 Freestyle Live.
“Calling all Liga Locos … REJOICE!!!” Jonathan Drew, Founder and President of Drew Estate stated in a press release the day after the Freestyle Live broadcast. “H99 Papas Fritas are the next generation of your favorite quick smoke Liga Privada, punching way above their weight class. The rich heartiness of these little frita flavor bombs are worthy of the title H99.”
Previous mystery cigars that have turned into Drew Estate brands include: Undercrown 10, 20 Acre Farm, Nica Rustica Adobe, and Blackened M81.
