The 2023 Premium Cigar Association (PCA) Trade Show marked the second one for Cynn and Joshua Coburn since acquiring the brand late in 2021. The Coburns are now firmly planted as the owners of Dissident Cigars. At the time of the acquisition, Dissident Cigars had built up five regular production lines since the brand was resurrected in 2019. Having five standard production lines is quite a bit for a small company. Nonetheless, it is not surprising the Coburns have focused more on limited editions since acquiring the company. This year the Coburns would release ReVolt – the second limited edition by the Coburns (following the Dissident Molotov) and the third overall (including Dissident Home).
As in the past, Dissident occupied one of the four corners of the Oveja Negra Booth – joining the other three brands (Black Label Trading Company, Black Works Studio, and Emilio). The Coburns maintain ownership of Dissident but leverage Oveja Negra Brands for production and distribution.
The Dissident ReVolt is a milder version of the company’s first limited edition, the Dissident Home. The ReVolt is a barber-pole offering featuring Corojo and Ecuadorian Maduro wrappers over an Ecuadorian binder and fillers from Nicaragua. The cigar is being released in one size – a 5 x 50 Robusto. Pricing is set at $14.00 per cigar. The company says that ReVolt was offered to PCA attendees before being offered to non-PCA attendees.
