Selected Tobacco is now shipping the 2024 edition of the Atabey Black Ritos. This limited-production, small-batch cigar features a 2019 vintage of the original blend. It’s a cigar that was also the cigar industry’s first NFT project. Ten retailers are carrying the 2024 edition of the Atabey Black. This includes United Cigar (which distributes Selected Tobacco) branded lounges and those retailers that purchased the boxes of the NFT.
In 2021, the Atabey Black debuted in a conceptual form where the digital art of the project was first offered up. NFT enthusiasts could purchase “conceptual” boxes at a set price of $1,200.00 for single cigars. The proceeds from the NFT project were donated to Cigar Rights of the World. Meanwhile, Selected Tobacco and Atabey creator Nelson Alfonso were already aging the 2018 Atabey Black Ritos cigar vintage. Last year, Atabey Black became a reality and debuted at the 2023 Premium Cigar Association (PCA) Trade Show.
The blend features a dark Ecuador wrapper around Dominican and Peruvian tobacco fillers. The cigars undergo a five-year aging process in rooms of different cedars and French oak. Like the NFT that was sold, the Atabey Black comes in one size – the 6 1/8 x 55 Ritos.

The Atabey Black Ritos 2019 vintage carries a price point of $50.00 per cigar. That is the same price as the 2018 vintage.
