E.P. Carrillo has announced that the latest installment of its Essence Series, the E.P. Carrillo Essence Honduras, is heading to retailers. The Essence Series will consist of six blends, each with a different wrapper. The Essence Series was showcased at the 2024 Premium Cigar Association (PCA) Trade Show.
While the previous two installments (Sumatra, Maduro) of the Essence Series are produced at E.P. Carrillo’s Casa Carrillo factory in the Dominican Republic, Essence Honduras comes from one of Plasencia’s factories in Honduras. It’s the second E.P. Carrillo cigar to come out of Plasencia, the first was the E.P. Carrillo INCH Nicaragua from Plasencia’s Nicaraguan factory. Essence Honduras is also the second E.P. Carrillo cigar to be made in Honduras following the Short Run 2023, which Oscar Valladares produced.
Essence Honduras is a project that Ernesto Perez-Carrillo III led. The Essence Honduras is a Honduran-forward blend consisting of a Honduran OSA (Olancho San Agustín) wrapper over a a Honduran binder and a combination of Honduran and Nicaraguan fillers. The cigars come in three sizes: Robusto (5 x 50), Toro (6 x 52), and Gordo (6 x 60). Each of the three sizes comes in 24-count boxes. Pricing is set between $9.25 and $10.75 SRP.
“Two years ago, our journey took us beyond the Casa Carrillo factory, leading to the creation of the acclaimed INCH Nicaragua in collaboration with Plasencia’s Nicaragua facility. Today, we’re thrilled to unveil the next chapter of our partnership, diving into the heart of Central America with the E.P. Carrillo Honduras. This blend embodies the rich heritage and unparalleled expertise of both our families,” says Ernesto Perez-Carrillo III in a press release.
In the future, Connecticut, Cameroon, and Nicaragua installments of the Essence Series are planned.
