Foundation Cigar Company announced that it is shipping the 2024 release of its annual limited edition, Highclere Castle Senetjer.
Highclere Castle is the brand produced in partnership between Foundation Cigar Company and George Herbert. Herbert is the 8th Earl of Carnarvon and owner of the famed Highclere Castle Estate in Hampshire, England. The name Senetjer, the ancient Egyptian word for “incense,” literally translates as “of the gods.” The Senetjer is named in honor of 2022 being the 100th anniversary of Herbert’s great-grandfather (the 5th Earl of Carnarvon) and Howard Carter’s discovery of Pharoah Tutankhamun’s tomb in November 1922.
Senetjer made its debut in 2022 as a limited-edition cigar. Based on demand, the following year, Foundation Cigars’ owner Nicholas Melillo decided to make the Senetjer an annual limited edition.
The Senetjer comes in one size—a 6 3/4 x 52 perfecto. The 12-count box of the Highclere Castle Senetjer is a replica of the storage boxes discovered within Tutankhamun’s tomb. A total of 700 boxes were produced. Pricing is $33.00 per cigar.
The blend for the Senetjer is consistent with the previous two years. Senetjer uses a 7th Priming Ecuadorian Habano wrapper, a Brazilian Mata Fina binder, and undisclosed aged fillers.
