The Details
Coming in at #6 on the 2024 Cigar of the Year Countdown is the Domain Neutron Toro.
Domain Cigars is part of a partnership between Esteban Disla and Daniel Lance. Disla is widely known for his tenure at the Nica Sueno factory, while Lance is an entrepreneur from the cigar business’s retail side. While the two own Domain Cigars, they are also partners in their own Nicaraguan factory, Tabacalera Familia Disla S.A. Recently, the factory has established a “residency,” bringing in two industry veterans to join the team: Kevin Baxter (formerly of Asylum) and Esteban’s brother Raul Disla (formerly of NACSA).
Neutron is highlighted by an aged AAA Mexican San Andreas wrapper sourced from TANICSA’s Gilberto Oliva. The cigars feature a double Nicaraguan binder and all Nicaraguan fillers. The filler tobacco comes from Condega and Pueblo Nuevo, using the factory’s exclusive Despanic fermentation process. The Neutron was launched in nine different sizes – a mix of rounded and box-pressed offerings. The Toro is a 50 x 6 parejo size.
The Domain Neutron Toro had a nice amount of complexity. The cigar delivered notes of cocoa, cedar, earth, wood, baking spice, chalk, and pepper. All of the flavor notes make a nice contribution to the flavor profile. As with many cigars on this year’s Countdown, this cigar delviers medium-bodied flavors countered by medium strength. This is an excellent debut for the team at Domain Cigars.
Since Domain Cigars is a new company, and Tabacalera Familia Disla is a new factory, this is the first appearance for both the company and factory on a Cigar Coop Countdown. We have now unveiled 25 cigars on the Countdown, and Nicaragua leads the way with 14 of the 25 cigars that have placed on the Countdown so far.
